Free English for Speakers of Other Languages Classes (ESOL)

ESOL Teacher training at the Finkelstein Memorial Library

ESOL Classes

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes offered!

Appreciation for this extremely successful program continues to blossom throughout the East Ramapo Central School District. The response to the library’s ESOL success translates to tremendous demand for even more language-related services.

The increase in demand for these services is not only for more ESOL classes, but also for English classes for American-born English speakers and classes for GED in English, Spanish and French. Providers of various community and government services are also seeking help in learning additional languages to better serve the community. Spring ESOL classes ended in June, 2010. They included ESOL Level I for Yiddish/Hebrew Speakers, ESOL Level I for Haitians, Multicultural Citizenship Exam Preparation, and Level II Multicultural English. The next classes are scheduled to start this October and end in March 2011. The library looks forward to continuing to provide a variety of ESOL-related classes to everyone in our diverse community who need these services. And, the library looks forward to continuing to work with its ongoing supporters in this endeavor – the Spring Valley Youth Bureau, Literacy Volunteers of Westchester and Rockland, and many other local non-profit service providers in the East Ramapo Central School District.
