The 2017-18 Proposed Library Budget was approved by the voters of the East Ramapo Central School District on June 13, 2017. The vote was 170 for the budget and 58 against.
A new library trustee has been elected after receiving the most write-in votes. Mr. Frank E. Dailey will serve a five-year, unpaid term on the Library's Board of Trustees.
Mr. Dailey, a retired New York City police detective, has served as a part-time Rockland County sheriff’s deputy, a former Chief of Police for the Villages of Sloatsburg and Harriman and as a part-time Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Ramapo Police Department.
Annual Library Budget Vote and Trustee Election
The Board of Trustees invites comments on the 2017-18 proposed library budget (click here) at an open hearing on Wednesday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in the Fielding Room. The election for the budget takes place at the library on Tuesday, June 13.
This year’s budget increase is under $7 per average household and will allow continued support of the following:
-Increase our Library collections, including world languages, providing our patrons with their favorite books, media and e-content.
-Maintain current relationships with neighboring libraries for continued customer service.
-Increase our Library holdings of the ever-popular museum passes.
-Continue to seek out innovative ways to make your experience at Finkelstein Library better!
-Continue with the refurbishment of the Enrichment Center to accommodate additional programming.
-Stay current with technological changes to meet our patrons' increasing needs.
3rd Floor -- Fielding Room
Every citizen 18 years or older residing within the East Ramapo Central School District for at least 30 days prior to voting, who is legally registered, is eligible to vote. Anyone who is already registered for general elections in November is eligible to vote in library elections. A separate registration is no longer required. You must vote at least once every four years in a general election to keep your registration valid. The Library, located at 24 Chestnut Street and Route 59 in Spring Valley, is wheelchair accessible.
