Battle of the Books Team Training (Entering Gr. 6 – 12 in Fall)
Thursdays, (7/10 – 8/21) from 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM
(MUST be able to attend Battle of the Books competition on 8/23 at 11 am at SUNY Orange Middletown)

Calling all readers! Join our Battle of the Books Team! Read a few books, attend weekly practice, and compete against teams from a dozen other libraries in a book trivia competition!  Registration required: email Jaimie, Teen Librarian, at jalbanese@rcls.org for more information.

Teen Summer Picnic
Tuesday, 7/8 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM


Classic picnic foods, icy treats, music, jumbo games, relay races, and more! Join us on the big lawn (facing Madison Ave) for an afternoon of outdoor fun! In case of inclement weather, the program will be held in the first floor meeting room.

Summer Finale Party
Tuesday, 8/26 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

A special party just for teens who were summer volunteers or logged books during the Summer Reading Challenge! There will be music, pizza, ice cream, games, and henna tattoos – all for free! If you volunteered or logged books, you will receive an exclusive email invitation to register for this event.

Teen Makers for a Cause
Tuesday, 7/15 & 8/12 from 6:30 – 8:00 PM

Make one and keep one! Earn community service hours while helping others.

7/15: Oil Diffuser Bracelets for Healthcare Workers – What would our world be without healthcare workers? Thank them with lava-bead bracelets that hold and diffuse essential oils all day. 

8/12: Cards for Hospitalized Kids – Craft cards with encouraging messages to lift the spirits of hospitalized children. All cards will be donated to the non-profit Cards for Hospitalized Kids for distribution to kids in need around the country.

Splash Painting with Water Guns! 
Tuesday, 7/22 from 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Create a unique work of abstract art using acrylic paint and water guns! No art skills required! We will provide aprons and gloves, but the paint is not washable – wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting messy! Supplies limited – first come, first served.

T-Shirt Tie Dye (Rain Date 8/18)
Tuesday, 7/29 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM
Spiral, fold, and use other techniques to create your own tie dye t-shirt! All supplies provided. Space is limited – first come, first served. We will provide aprons and gloves, but the dye is not washable – wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting messy!

Crochet Crew 
Tuesday, 8/5 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM
A crochet (and knitting) meet-up for teens! Want to learn some crochet basics? We’ll teach you! Basic supplies and snacks will be provided.
