Welcome to the Teen Space!

AGES 13-18

Your Teen is here for fun, creativity, and connection. If you ever need help, our friendly staff is here to assist with book suggestions, book holds, program sign-ups, and more.

Looking for a place to hang out after school?

Come relax in our lounge area on the first floor! Whether you want to chill with friends, play our Nintendo Switch, or dive into a board game, we’ve got you covered—no library card needed.  See our Teen Space Etiquette below.

Need to get some work done?

Reserve a computer for free at the reservation station in the Children’s Room with your library card. If you don’t have a library card, ask for a guest pass at the reference desk. Teens are also welcome to use the computers on the third floor. You can even reserve a quiet study room on the second floor. When printing/scanning/copying in the Children’s Room, you can enjoy up to 10 free printed pages per day. Free WiFi is also available throughout the building, so you can print from your phone, tablet, or laptop, using our handy mobile printing service

Looking for your next favorite book?

Explore our monthly displays for fresh recommendations, or visit our second floor space featuring our YA nonfiction section. From biographies for school projects to guides on crafting the perfect college application essay, we have the resources you need. The YA Traditional collection is also housed on the second floor. All other YA collections (Fiction, Fantasy, Graphic Novels, Audiobooks, and World Language), can be found in the Teen Room.

You also have remote access!

Utilize online resources to help with school, like Peterson’s Test Prep and/or borrow ebooks, audiobooks, ecomics, magazines, and stream music, movies, tv shows, and more with apps like Libby, Hoopla, ComicsPlus, and Kanopy, using your library card. You can also access online resources to help with school, like Britannica School, without a library card.

Teen Space Etiquette:

  1. The Teen Space is for teens in grades 7-12. Teens are welcome to read, hang out with friends, use computers, play games, etc.
  2. All patrons are welcome to browse for materials, but seating and computers are reserved for teens. Teens with younger siblings are always welcome to sit in the Children’s Room.
  3. The Teen Space is not a quiet zone, but the volume of devices and voices must be kept at a reasonable level. Headphones can be requested at the Teen Desk. Anything with explicit content is not to be played aloud.
  4. Teens are welcome to use the library’s card games and board games when a library staff member is present. All games must be returned before you leave the room.
  5. Small food items and sealable water are allowed in the room only during a scheduled program. Program details including appropriate food and water containers are at the discretion of library staff.
  6. Take pride in your space: clean up after yourself and others, if necessary.
  7. Be respectful to library staff and other patrons in both word and action (e.g. language, no public displays of affection, etc.).
  8. Be mindful. While personal equipment (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.) is always allowed, the library is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen equipment.
  9. Be kind. Fighting, bullying, and profane language are not welcome.
