Crafts for a Cause

Register for Crafts for a Cause and pick up a craft kit each week with everything you need to make a handmade item to be donated. Make a cat toy for Hi Tor Animal Shelter, crochet a hat for Warm Up America, create handmade cards for Meals on Wheels, and more.  Watch our instructional videos to complete the project and return your finished item to the library for donation. Each completed item returned will earn 1 -2 hours of community service, based on the kit.

Teen Advisory Board

Our Teen Advisory Board helps shape our teen program by participating in brainstorming ideas, offering suggestions, and helping to promote library services to teens. Virtual meetings will be held monthly. Earn one hour of community service for attending each virtual monthly meeting.

ARC Angels

Never enough time to read for pleasure? This is the volunteer program you need! Read an Advanced Reading Copy (ARC) and write a comprehensive review using our handy Google form. ARCs will be provided by the library and are yours to keep.  Earn community service hours based on length of book, based on three hours per 100 pages plus 1 hour per review. For example, a 300 page book will earn 10 community service hours.

Project LIT

Another opportunity to read! Participate in a Project Lit virtual event and earn community service hours for both reading, promoting, and discussing books. Earn 1 hour of community service for each discussion attended. Extra hours will be awarded for help promoting the book/discussion on the basis of effort.

Rockland Teens Write

Do you love to write stories? Participate in SCRAWL: Rockland Teens Write and earn 20 hours community service hours for any honest submissions. To collect credit, please include “for community service” in your Scrawl application.

Freerice

Join our library’s group on Freerice.com using group code TH97JJZX and help meet our monthly goal of earning money for the UN World Food Programme by answering trivia questions. Each correct answer generates enough money from ads to purchase 5 grains of rice. Earn one hour of community service for every 1,000 grains of rice you accumulate.

Virtual Homework Help

 Help children in grades first through fifth with their homework over WebEx. Earn one hour of community service for each hour logged tutoring.
