SUMMER READING KICKOFF

(K-6)

Summer Reading Kickoff with Wild and Bright Reptiles! (Gr. K-6)
Monday, 6/29 from 3:00 – 4:00 PM

Join Wild & Bright’s reptile educator, Maureen, for an exciting, engaging animal program! Wild & Bright programs feature live, up-close reptile experiences to promote nature conservation. We invite curious folks, animal lovers, and those looking to face their fears of reptiles! All children must be supervised by a caretaker during this event. Registration is preferred

LIBRARY LITTLES

(Birth - Preschool)

Toddler Time (Walkers-Preschool Age 3)

Every Tuesday, 6/30-8/4 from 10:30 – 11:15 AM

Toddlers, Preschoolers,  and their grownups can join us for all types of fun: stories, fingerplays, music and movement, using scarves, sensory play, themed crafts, instruments, and more! We will incorporate early literacy tips that can also be used at home. 

Baby Lap Time (Pre-Walkers)

Every Thursday, 7/2-8/6 from 10:30 – 11:15 AM

Caregivers and their infants are invited to their first story time program. This bonding program is specially designed for pre-walkers. Babies will get exposed to stories, songs, and movement, while their grown-ups will get a chance to chat with other caregivers, learn fun ways to entertain Baby, and create special moments together. Siblings welcome.

Zumbini with Tina (Birth -Preschool Ages 3)

Wednesdays, 7/8 & 8/5 from 10:30 – 11:15 AM

Music and movement class for you and your child. Get your child moving where the science of child development meets the magic of Zumba!

Preschool Playtime (Ages 2-5)

Mondays, 7/13 & 7/27 from 10:30 – 11:15 AM

7/13 – Stomp, Chomp, & Roar: Little explorers are invited to join us for stories, songs, and movement galore as we celebrate everything dinosaur.

7/27 – Spray Bottle Painting: Children will use spray bottles and liquid watercolors to make a painting as unique and colorful as they are! 

Summer Sensory Playtime (Birth-Preschool Ages 3)

Wednesday, 7/22 from 10:30 – 11:15 AM

Come and play with your child at our sensory stations! Sensory play is any activity that stimulates a child’s senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and hearing. 

Crafty Creations (Gr. 4-6)
Tuesday, 6/30 Cave Painting from 6:00-7:00 PM Create your own cave painting – just like the cave paintings found on the walls and ceilings in prehistoric times.

Monday, 7/13 – Make Your Own Dinosaur Egg from 6:30-7:30 PM Let’s get messy! Come make your very own dinosaur egg out of clay, paint, and gems.

Monday, 7/20 – Hieroglyphic Name Art on Stone from 2:30 – 3:30 PM Draw your own initials using hieroglyphic symbols! Create your own designs on a rock to take home. 

Tuesday, 7/21 – Creature Bath Bombs from 6:00-7:00 PM  Splish, splash! We are making bath bombs  (with a surprise in the middle)!

 

Let’s Get Crafty (Grades K-3)

Thursday, 7/2 – Flower Pasta Art from 4:00-5:00 PM Food can be art too! Let’s create beautiful flowers using pasta.

Thursday, 7/16: Dirt Dwellers Dioramas from  5:00 – 6:00 PM Create your own mini-diorama filled with worms, bugs, roots, and more as you design a tiny habitat.

Thursday, 7/23 – Dinosaur Fossils from 4:00-5:00 PM Create your own dinosaur fossil using air dry clay.

Library Card Art Design Contest (Gr. K-6)
Monday, 7/6 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM

Calling all young artists! Come share your creativity by designing a brand-new library card for our users. Materials and a template will be provided-just bring your creativity and imagination. Join us for a fun session where your artwork could become one of the next official children’s library cards.

Mini Makers (Gr. K-3)
Tuesday, 7/7 – Glittering Geodes from 6:00-7:00 PM

Let’s turn a little science into something sparkly- glittering crystal geodes!

Thursday, 7/30 – Solar Critters from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Discover solar energy and circuits by creating your own solar critter.

Tuesday, 8/4 – Hypno Wheel from 6:00 – 7:00 PM Make a hypno wheel to hypnotize your friends using circuits and motors.

Backyard Science (Gr. K-6) 
Thursday, 7/14 from 4:00- 6:00 PM 
Join in on the fun as we explore the wonders of backyard science experiments together! We’ll be using everyday household items to learn, play, and discover all at once. **Science experiments can be messy, please dress appropriately. 

Sew Simple! (Gr. 4-6)
Thursdays, (7/9 & 8/6 ) from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Stop by our Makerspace to make use of our sewing machines for a beginner project-no experience needed!  Registration is required.

READ WITH A BUDDY

(1-6)

Reading Buddies (Gr. 1-3)
Mondays & Wednesdays, (6/29 – 8/5) from 4:00 – 4:45 PM & 5:00 – 5:45 PM

Reading is fun with a buddy! Your child will practice their phonics and decoding skills in a relaxed environment alongside our teen volunteers by playing literacy games and reading together. Please note: this program is intended for struggling readers. Registration required once per school year.

Buddies Book Club (Gr. 4-6)
Wednesday, 7/1 from 6:00-7:00 PM Mercy Watson to the rescue by Kate DiCamillo

Tuesday, 7/28 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM The Bad Guys by Aaron Blabey

Reading is fun with buddies! Join this new monthly read aloud book club where we’ll read a chapter book together! Crafts, games, and activities based on each book will be included. Extra copies will be available to check out if we do not finish reading the book. Please note: this program is intended for struggling readers, and an excellent choice for those who have outgrown Reading Buddies.
