COMPUTER CLASSES

Registration begins 1 week prior to each class.

Please be aware, some classes have prerequisites. Please arrive 10 mins early, classes start promptly.

The Technology Center provides computers configured for patron use during workshops.

The use of patrons’ personal computers and/or laptops during workshops is prohibited.

These workshops are very popular and space is limited. If you register for a workshop and cannot attend, please call and inform staff so that others may attend. Repeated no-shows will lose the ability to register for future workshops.

Location: 3rd floor RHF Technology Center

This class is for anyone just beginning to learn how to use the computer. In part 1, we will briefly go over the physical computer parts, how to turn the computer on and off, the desktop, Start menu, and how Microsoft Windows works. In part 2, we will review the keyboard commands, left-clicking, double-clicking, and right-clicking. We’ll also navigate the computer and software: the Start menu, managing “Windows”, other programs and software. We will also spend time learning how to use the mouse. 

No previous experience with computers necessary.

Part 1 will review the basic features of an e-mail program, how to create an e-mail account, how to send and reply to an email. Part 2 will cover forwarding, attachments, re-directing mail as well as other advanced features. ***Setting up an email requires use of a cell phone for verification purposes.***

PowerPoint is one of the most popular software programs in the world. It enables you to create professional-looking presentations in the form of slideshows that run on your computer. This class will explain not only the basics of starting a presentation; choosing a design, adding and editing text, pictures, videos, chart and animation to your slides but how to “think-through” your entire presentation for the best results.

Prerequisite: Ability to use mouse & keyboard.
