English Conversation Group (Family) 
Every other Thursday, (1/18 – 2/19) from 4:00 PM – 4:45 PM

Join us for an English conversational group. In this group we will practice conversational English for different topics each month. Please note this is not an ESL course and will not be formally taught or focus on grammar or writing. All adults must attend with at least one K-12 student. Children may be accompanied by teens ages 13+.

Bilingual Storytime (Family) 
Mondays, (1/12 – 2/9) from 10:00 – 11:00 AM

Join us for Bilingual storytime in English and Spanish! We will sing songs and read books in both languages. Lots of fun for the whole family! All adults must attend with at least one K-12 student. Children may be accompanied by teens ages 13+.

Teen Library Council
Wednesdays, (1/7 & 2/4) from 7:00-8:00 PM
Gain leadership skills, contribute to your community, and shape your public library! TLC members earn community service for participation and are eligible for special perks. Join any time, no registration required. Snacks provided. Email jalbanese@rcls.org for more information.

Teen Makers
Wednesdays, (1/14, & 2/11) from 6:30 – 8:00 PM
Get creative and learn new skills with these fun projects!

1/14: DIY Sticker Box  – decorate your own trinket box with paint and stickers.

2/11: Cupcake Decorating  – Mix your frosting and learn different piping skills to make your own cupcake creations.

Battle of the Books

Calling all Gr. 6-11 readers: Join our Battle of the Books Team to compete against teams from a dozen other public libraries in a book trivia competition! Questions? Email fmlteen@rcls.org

Why Join?

  • Receive free copies of the 8 competition books and a team shirt (all yours to keep!)
  • A great resume and/or college application booster. No extracurriculars or sports? This has all you need- Teamwork! Friendly Competition! Commitment! Good sportsmanship!
  • Need a reference? Committed team members may earn a reference from our Coaches.
  • All participants get free books and goodies at the event!
  • Winners get cash prizes and a banner to hang in the Library for the next year.
  • Read titles/ authors that you might not check out otherwise!

Joining is easy. Come to our interest meeting to get all the details you need! Read the 8 books over the next 4 months, attending monthly practices (5-6 PM Wednesdays) to learn the rules, and get comfortable with the buzzer system. Then this summer, attend biweekly practices (4:30-6PM Mondays & Wednesdays) as we lock in for the competition. The Battle will be at SUNY Orange, on Sunday, Aug. 23rd @ 12 PM.
